Project Developments
This page will show the development of my projects.

I began by pinning up two rolls at a length of 10 foot, when these pieces of paper were in place, I used an overhead projector and one of my acetate images to project onto the wall, I was more interested in drawing around the lines rather than on them with a black permanent marker, I felt that it would give the image a different outcome and would look bolder with the lines.

I continued to draw out the image, this is the full view of the artwork before I began altering it.

These were my two final pieces together as well as some smaller print screens which I was sampling with earlier in my project.

This slideshow shows the progress and development of my work as I was attempting to to create a larger scale of my acetate images but drawing around the lines rather than on them to see if there was a different outcome to the image I was using.

After a previous project was proven a success I began to continue developing this as I felt that something was missing, It needed more depth, the Imagery looked nice but it was flat, I wanted to create something which was visually pleasing and had more than one angle to it, I began to experiment and plan for three months in advance by taking previous drawings apart and creating new designs to work with.

After much designing I was able to take enough photos to create a "machine" through the use of smaller components, I call this one Audiosyncracity, the reason for this because i was referring to the word Idiosyncrasy meaning for a single individual or a group of people have an unusual behavior, I also noticed that the design looked like a speaker as well as a map of a city or planet, so I combined the words together to form audiosyncracity, a word I made up to mean that the media controls us.

This started from placing tiny pieces together which I had no matter how big or small they were and again joining them in groups to start with deciding what would work best and then merging them as a whole later on. I really like this idea as it has created a breakthrough which I feel gives my work that three dimensional aesthetic which I have been looking for and intend to develop this further.

I was really Interested In working with line as well as my acetate Imagery that I decided to further my development using freshly made designs which I had created myself, the difference being I wanted my drawings to look more three dimensional and had multiple perspectives. I found drawings alone lacked the effect I was intending to create

line drawing to sculpture.
After all the experimenting with the different techniques and materials, I finally created this wall sculpture. what I found most interesting about this was that when the sun shone through the window at an angle, the sculpture cast a shadow of itself onto the wall creating a series of lines and shapes.
With this I was also experimenting with putting the sculpture into motion by swinging it in a perpetual motion like a clock, with doing this the shadows moved. I filmed this as this was happening.
This Video shows the creation of my work through the use of a laser cutter and how fast it is compared to three weeks of manual work.

This is the first stage of creating my "machines" I start by collecting my imagery by taking photos of things that I find interesting. I then place the photographs into Photoshop and highlight them.

I then divided up the images that I had placed together and then moving them about, attempting to find links with each of the imagery and what would look aesthetically pleasing. These would be split into different groups, this part of the process works as a preliminary process of what looks best, eventually exhausting all ideas. When this stage is finished i merge the layers together.

I got to this point by flipping over my image both vertically and horizontally to create a symmetrical image which I would then work from

This collection of photographs gives an insight into the creation of my machines and the development behind the use of photomontage towards a final piece.
