Professional info

I have recently graduated my fine art (Ba Honours) degree at UCLAN gaining a 2.1 grade. I have the skills and qualities suitable for communicating and serving the public. I am an outgoing, confident, organised, friendly, customer service orientated person. I can work independently and as part of a group and do my best at whatever I do, I like working towards targets, I give the best quality service I can possibly give. I was a prefect in high school and a student representative in college meaning, I'm reliable, organised responsible, dedicated, trusted and can work under pressure towards deadlines and targets. In the future I hope to become a successful artist or work as a curator in a museum.

Work experience

Deadpan & A Measure of sound (November 2012 - January 2013 ) - Gallery Technician

For these couple of exhibitions, I worked with many artists from around the world in a collaborative exhibition that they were presenting, I helped out with deciding where things should be placed, painted walls and extra plinths that needed tidying up and cleaning the floors, I would wake up early each morning to switch on their equipment in the gallery and switch it off at night. I also talked to the visitors about the work that was being shown and was as supportive as I could be.

With myself and a group of other people I helped uninstall the Deadpan project exhibition, packed away everything in the boxes in the right order, painted the walls, distributed posters for the opening date and closing event, I helped out with measuring out the line for mounting three flat screen televisions and a series of 6 images by using a tape measure and spirit level to mark out the accurate position so all would fit in line and equally spaced, drilled the holes, mounted brackets, mounted the televisions, programmed the televisions, made handles for the headphones, helped out with the exhibition by switching on and off the television, talking to people about the artwork, maintaining a tidy gallery space and helping out with the closing event. After this exhibition had been a success, had to be uninstalled again and placed back inside boxes to be posted back to the artist.

Liverpool Biennial (September - November 2012) - Gallery Technician

This position lasted throughout the Liverpool biennial. I was to answer questions about the artwork, keep the venue tidy and making sure that visitors did not damage the work. I did work at a few venues such as Copperas Hill Royal Mail Sorting Office along side the New contemporaries exhibition which I also monitored, I greeted visitors, I was also in charge of keeping people out of restricted areas, I explained what the Jorge Macci exhibition which consisted of lots of steel girders that were bolted into the ground, also another main attraction being the Vilinus Black Pillow which was the size of the entire floor in width and length.

For this I worked Saturdays and Sundays each week, it was a really exciting time for me as I enjoyed interacting with the public, meeting new people and working on a well known art event. The rest of the exhibition here included video art and sculptures from around the world such as Lithuania, Russia, Copenhagen and Poland etc.

Other places that I worked were the Tea House and Wall St which had different art pieces inside, the Tea House exhibition consisted of lots of portrait photographs of the unsuspecting public and Wall St had lots of video art dedicated to Korea, Japan and China.

I worked with the Royal Standard on an open day which was linked with the Liverpool biennial voluntary job. This was at the camp and furnace venue. for this I was to influence the general public who came to the event to begin drawing by also drawing myself, the theme was reflection upon sounds and music, I also got involved in working with the children making "automatic drawing machines" which consisted of a cup with a battery and motor and 5 pens attached. I was in charge of greeting people at the door and doing a head count of how many people came to the event. This was a 12 hour project that lasted from noon until midnight.

Work in Progress (September 2012) - Gallery Technician / Curator

This was a colaborative exhibition which myself and a few other people worked on. There was a lot of planning to do before hand, the walls needed painting, leaflets were distributed, posters were made, websites were created, arranging meetings, suggesting ideas in the group, choosing the right art pieces to be in the exhibition, photographs were taken, a press release was written, a floor plan of the exhibition was created, mounting the work was done by myself and a few other people, organising where certain art pieces were best placed, maintaining moral support within the group, relaying between different people about problems and queries the other members of the group had, cleaning the space, arranging refreshments, helping out on the night, monitoring the exhibition and answering any questions about the artwork. at the end of the exhibition the artwork had to be carefully removed and the walls had to be painted again.
